Olds mayoral candidates share their vision for the community at election forum

A near capacity crowd attended the Election Forum at the Pomeroy Inns & Suites at Olds College on Monday October 7th to hear from the acclaimed Town of Olds councillors and to ask questions of  the three candidates for mayor. The mayoral candidates were the incumbent Judy Dahl and challengers Art Baker and Shirley Shultz. Jordan Cleland, a vice president of Olds College moderated the event which saw the mayoral candidates bring forward their campaign platforms.

Topics and issues presented by the candidates included traffic on highways 27 and 2a, train safety, spending and transparency in communications from the town office. You can take our poll at www.octv.ca and tell us what topic you think is important in this election.

The Town of Olds Municipal Election will be held on Monday, October 21, 2013 from 8 am to 8 pm at the Olds Legion. There are two Advance Voting opportunities on Thursday, October 11, 2013 from 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm and Saturday, October 19, 2013 from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm both in the Council Chambers at Town of Olds Office (4512 46 St.).

If you are unable to attend the voting station because of physical or mobility limitations, you may request, at least 48 hours before the end of the Advance Vote period, to have a deputy attend your residence to take your vote. Contact the Returning Officer, Bill Johnston at 403-556-6981 to make arrangements and for more information on the voting process in Olds.
